New era at Cefn Ila

Thanks to a successful funding application to the Heritage Lottery Fund Cefn Ila is welcoming some fantastic changes. Firstly we are pleased to introduce Amelia Lake, Cefn Ila’s very own Community Development Officer. Amelia has masses of experience in community development, teaching, horticulture and has already set to work planning a packed schedule of events for 2015.

As part of the project there will be many new opportunities to volunteer at Cefn Ila, lots of events ranging from bug hunts to guided heritage walks. We will also be making lots of improvements to the site including marking the trails around site better, creating new features and uncovering the history of Cefn Ila. We will be working with local people to record memories of the Maternity Hospital and tell the stories onsite and in Usk Rural Life Museum.

So look out for changes on site, opportunities to get involved and come and enjoy events in this wonderful setting.
